Hi all, I just wanted to let you know that Kuwait Amateur Radio Society announce their radio course in order to earn you radio license and your own callsign. They have this course once a year. It will start next Monday on 21 of November for five weeks. I will be teaching one session about satellite communication and how to talk to astronauts. If you are interested on how to talk to astronauts, so join the course for only 30KD including book fees, registration and practical training. It will be great to see more females join this course.

Snookie: Unfornatuly no courses during summer. KARS give it only one time after Ramadan each year. :/

Kuwait HAM licenses are only for Kuwaitis? I mean I dont have a call sign back home...can I write the exam and get the license? well I guess not! but its kinda weird right? I got my Kuwait drivers license...why cant I have a Kuwait Call sign after I pass exams?

Kuwaiti HAM licenses are NOT only for Kuwaitis.
As for my knowledge from KARS... I know you will provided with a ham licenses, if your country have already provided a ham license to a Kuwaiti.

but what if i dont hold a ham license in my country? Can I write the exam and get a q8y ham license? I am sure Kuwaitis are given reciprocal license in my country.
Maryam, it will be helpful if you can help this Anonymous Guy. What he wants to know is that even if he dont have a ham license in his country, can he apply for one and write exams and get one in Kuwait? Just like our government give them Driving Licenses. If thats not the case for KARS, we need to change that. Ham radio is for global fraternity and we need to make sure the same happens when we deal with these people in our motherland.

I just have made a phone call with the director of KARS and asked him about your case. ?Unfortunately you cannot get a Kuwaiti ham license, if you don't have one in your country. ?
Correction to what I wrote previously, the Kuwaiti callsigns were given to foreigners was after the liberation ?but not anymore and now they have different rules. So anybody who have a callsign already in their country, they can get a stroke ?before their original callsign and operate in Kuwait. For example, 9K2/NA1SS. ?

? I will do my best to help "Anonymous". Driving licenses are different from Ham license because are issued ?from Ministry of Communication (MOC). Unluckily, in Kuwait there are around 300 hams officially ?registered with MOC and there are not many details rules about getting ham licenses in Kuwait. I know an ?employee works at MOC and he is a ham. I will ask him for more reference about this subject.?
Could you please? It is indeed unfortunate that KARS doesnt allow foreigners to write exam and get license...we need to change the system. What do you think? We are giving them licenses to drive in Kuwait, most of them doesnt have licenses back home I guess! So this should not be of some kinda national security issue or something...KARS..come on...break out of your such rules...let us go forward...this is 2006! unfortunately some people think Ham radio is their own private thing and not for others...this should change....
