Finally Kuwait will celebrate the World Space Week for the first time starting this Thursday December 15th until next Wednesday. This is my first time to coordinate such an event. I didn't have much difficulties finding the right people to start with as much finding sponsors for the event. I never knew being a coordinator such a hectic job beside my current office job.
Anyhow many thanks to:
1. The Scientific Center to hold this event at their location on the Arabian Gulf.
2. Kuwait Advanced Science Foundation for providing prizes for space contests.
3. Kuwait Amateur Radio Society to participate during the space week by operating on amateur radio and teach people about radio and satellite communications.
4. And Kuwait Municipality of Public Relations for providing the flags for decorationa and add a theme to the event.
More information and details on the event Please Click HERE!
Hope to see you there on Thursday (starting 5:00 pm)!!

The First Watch on The Moon

This is a duplicate spacesuit for the astronaut Neil Armstrong, the first man to step on the moon, brought by OMEGA for their commercial advertisment "The Speedmaster Watch". Make sure to see it at Salhiyah Complex (near Starbucks as you see in the photo) before the 15th of this month because it will be no longer there. I had a meeting with Brand manager of OMEGA and discuss the possiblity to have this spacesuit dislayed at The Scientific Center during World Space Week (WSW). He really likes the idea and he told me he wanted to display it at Scientific Center in first place but they didn't have anything connected to space. Unfornatly, I cannot have this spacesuit displayed during WSW becuase it must fly to Dubai after the 15th. :(
Anyhow, He told me interesting story about the watch and that OMEGA received a Snoopy award, the highest distinction from NASA astronauts, on 5 October 1970 in recognition of its vital role in the safe return to Earth of the Apollo 13 mission.
"The legendary “Moon Watch” – flight-qualified by NASA for manned spaceflight missions in 1965 is the only watch ever to be worn on the moon. "
Oh by the way Sergei Krikalev wore one of OMEGA "Speedmaster watch" abroad the ISS ;)
